GODS & MONSTERS
The ancient Greek world was alive with the supernatural. Divinities and spirits were imagined to inhabit every aspect of the visible world, from the minor spirits of the plants and trees to the terrible Olympians on high Olympus. Monsters, too, lurked in the dark recesses beyond the imagination, where civilization ended and the wild began. In the Argonaut myth Jason and his crew encounter many aspects of the supernatural, including both gods and monsters. The following sections look more closely at both categories of supernatural entities.
