OVERVIEW
Jason and Medea, 16th-17th c. tapestry (Fanny Schertzer / Wikimedia Commons)
The myth of Jason and the Argonauts has been told time and again from the end of the Mycenaean era (c. 1200 BCE) down to the present day. Over time, the myth changed as different authors adapted it to serve the changing circumstances in which they wrote. This section presents some modern retellings of the Jason myth as an introduction to the Argonaut story and as a baseline for understanding the classical texts from which these modern versions were compiled.
